Newborn Session

Information

When to book your newborn session

The best time to photograph a newborn baby is when they are under two weeks old. Babies are so sleepy and co-operative at this age, this allows for better posing. You can contact me at any time during your pregnancy to give me an estimated due date, I can then put you on my 'expecting list', and then when baby decides to make an appearance you can then contact me and we will arrange a suitable time and day for your session.

Where your session is held

Your newborn session will take place in my studio in

Wisbech St Mary, Wisbech.

The studio is nice and warm,

so wear something cool and comfortable.

I also travel to clients houses if desired for an extra fee.

On the day of your session

If possible, on the day of your session it's preferable if you feed your baby just after you arrive. I allow plenty of time for this. This will ensure baby is super sleepy and contented before we begin. We follow your baby's lead during the session and accommodate them if they need soothing, changing or feeding.

How long will your session take...

Newborn sessions can take 1-2 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding and comforting.

When will you get your pictures

My editing turn around is usually 2 weeks. But in busy periods you could expect to receive your collection anytime up to 6 weeks. A link to an online gallery will be emailed to you. You can then view your gallery and choose the amount of images that you've

paid for in the package you selected upon booking. There is an option to upgrade to buy all of your images.

Ordering...

You can order your prints and photo products through the shop linked to the online gallery. They are great quality products. I recommend you reframe from ordering your prints from budget online printers... the image quality and colours are compromised  dramatically.

Other information

Payment...

Payment can be made by bank transfer or cash. A 50% deposit is required upon booking to secure your appointment. Then the final balance is due the day of your photo session.

Cancellation...

48 hour notice is required for cancellations, however your deposit is non refundable. Due to the nature of the photo sessions I am flexible with rescheduling sessions at my discretion.

Running late?

I totally understand these things happen. But due to other appointment commitments this may effect the amount of images you receive. Unfortunately if you are over 45 minutes late I may have to cancel your session at my discretion and your deposit may not be transferable.

What to wear

It's your photo session so it's completely up to you what you wear. But if you're looking for some guidance heres a few pointers for you...

Comfort is Key

Consider weather-appropriate clothing. Choose clothes you feel comfortable and confident in, as this will translate to more natural and relaxed photos.

Muted Tones

Muted colours like earthy tones, pastels, or neutrals and white can create a soft and timeless look.

Aim to coordinate with the setting.

Solid Colors

Opt for solid colours, as they tend to look more cohesive and pleasing in photos.

Avoid Distracting Patterns:

Large patterns, bright colours and busy prints can be distracting in photos.

Coordinate Outfits

Co-ordinate outfits to create a cohesive look, but don't feel like you have to match exactly.

Clothing that Wrinkles Easily:

Choose clothes that are easy to care for and will stay wrinkle-free throughout the shoot.

MY TIPS FOR A DREAMY NEWBORN SESSION

Before your Newborn session

-It’s preferable (not essential) for baby to be under two weeks old. So book in and get on my ‘expecting’ list before baby is born to guarantee availability.

-Have a look at my portfolio, is there any photos you’d like to capture?

-Have a think about colour pallets you’d like to have in your photos. Maybe that would match baby’s nursery?

-Pack the night before, if you’re anything like me, you’ll thank yourself for being organised. If you arrive relaxed and ready, that will most likely set the tone for your session.

On the day of your session

-Plan for an awake window before your session so baby is ready for a lovely nap.

-If you can, plan a feed for when you get to the studio. Or feed just before your session. So we have a lovely and full, sleepy baby.

Don’t worry though, there will also be plenty of time for baby to feed and soothe during the session. We’ll take baby’s lead.

-Relax Mama, soak in the kisses and cuddles- nothing your baby does during the session can be wrong.

WELCOME TO MY SANCTUARY

In the studio...

You will find me located amongst idyllic fenland fields. I have created a serene, peaceful space to welcome you and your family into. Sit back with a brew or bougie refreshment while I create beautiful photographs for you. Also in the studio I have plenty of gorgeous wooden toys to entertain your little darlings.
