Newborn and Sibling Session Tips

My main priority here is that your older child feels safe, happy and relaxed. So here's a few tips to help prepare them for the session...

Before the session:

-Prepare your older child, talk to them about coming to my studio for a photo shoot.

-Show them some of my behind the scenes reels so they know what to expect

-Let them take photos on your phone

-Practice silly smiling (they usually naturally laugh after so that’s when I get the shot)

-Pack light coloured snacks (Pom bears/ bread sticks)

-Let me know when big sister/brother’s nap usually is and we’ll plan around it

During the session:

-Settle in, there will be no rush for your little one to be in the photos.

-I have plenty of lovely wooden toys for your child the amuse themselves with before it’s their turn to be in some photos.

-They can play while watching what I’m doing with their little brother/sister.

-You're more than welcome to bring someone with you to help.

-My studio is completely child friendly, they are welcome to explore their surroundings.

And finally, it's a good idea to manage your expectations, a lot of things have changed in their little world so your child may be a little reluctant to get involved with some photos.

I do have many tricks up my sleeve but there would never be any pressure on your child to join in.
